Software Engineer - Master Data Platform (Salesforce)

backend 1696602644

In a nutshell

As a developer working with Salesforce and Python, you'll join the Master Data team. We own the product data everything else runs on — from integrating supplier catalogues, through enrichment and validation, to what a customer sees in the app and what the warehouse needs to plan how a product fits in a tote. Hundreds of colleagues work with the platform every day, handling large volumes of master data across multiple countries, and your job is to make that easier — a validation that catches a bad value before it reaches a customer, a screen that stops taking eight clicks to do one thing. You'll solve data issues and steadily improve the platform. Over time the role grows towards software engineering, deeper into Python and data platform architecture.

Tricks of the trade

green dot
Ownership: Take ownership of a part of the platform, know it well, and grow into the person others come to for it. You'll propose improvements rather than waiting for them to be assigned, and you try things and iterate quickly
green dot
Maintain and extend: Design, test, evolve, and refine the core aspects of our master data platform with a creative and analytical approach. Keep it healthy by improving existing flows and integrations while reducing complexity
green dot
Data modeling and quality: Shape how product information is modeled, and build the validation, enrichment and monitoring that keeps it accurate
green dot
Work with your users: Build relationships with the operational teams who work daily with the platform, understand their pain points, and turn those into improvements
green dot
Code Review: Review designs and code of teammates
green dot
Support: Support existing products and work with other developers to resolve incidents, including occasional on-call shifts

Technologies we use

black dot
Salesforce: Apex, LWCs, RESTful integrations, Salesforce Connect
black dot
Deployments: Salesforce DX & Unlocked Packages
black dot
IDEs: VSCode, Intellij; scratch orgs
black dot
Python: FastAPI, Pydantic

black dot
CI/CD: TeamCity

We are looking for

black dot
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related quantitative field
black dot
2+ years of experience with Salesforce implementations including Apex
black dot
Curious and detail-oriented: you pick things up fast, including technologies new to you, like Python or dbt, and you have the patience to chase an inconsistency until you understand where it came from. Using AI tools effectively in your daily work is good evidence of both
black dot
Genuinely interested in data and the people who depend on it — models, quality, what happens downstream
black dot
Solid judgement on tradeoffs between configuration and custom code
black dot
Applies software engineering best practices to Apex/LWC development e.g. triggers, async apex, testing, access and data lifecycle management
black dot
English skills are on point (no Dutch required)

Bonus Points!

black dot
Good command of Python/Java
black dot
Experience with master data, product data management or data engineering
black dot
Understanding of DX and unlocked packages
black dot
Experience with sharing and security setups of Salesforce
